CHAPTER COVERS

Each chapter of the sustainability report features a custom-designed cover, created using images from real locations and operations within the Petrogas company—such as oil tankers, machinery, and industrial sites. I illustrated these elements and unified them under a consistent visual style to reflect the identity of the company while giving each section a distinctive look. The goal was to visually connect the content of each chapter to the company’s real-world activities, adding both coherence and depth to the report.

PAGE LAYOUT

Throughout the report, I used a layout style that combines text on one side of the spread and a full-page image on the opposite side—sometimes placing the image on the right, and other times on the left. This flexible design approach creates visual balance and keeps the layout dynamic, allowing the content to flow naturally while maintaining the reader’s attention. The combination of structured text and immersive imagery enhances both the clarity and visual impact of each page.

STYLE

The drawing style used throughout the book is intentionally designed to emulate the look of a child's illustrations, as the concept behind the project is that the book was supposedly created by a kid. This is why many of the illustrations have a hand-drawn, playful quality, reflecting the imagination, spontaneity, and perspective of a young explorer documenting these fantastic creatures.

PAGE LAYOUT

The page layout follows a consistent structure in which the text is positioned on the right side of each spread, while the illustration of the creature appears on the left. This arrangement creates a clear and balanced composition, allowing readers to first engage visually with the creature before reading its description, and reinforcing the idea of a personal journal or field notebook.

PETROGAS: SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

For this project, I designed the sustainability report for Petrogas, an oil company committed to transparency and environmental responsibility. My role involved editing and enhancing all photographic content, organizing and placing the informational text throughout the document, and developing the overall visual style of the report. I ensured that the layout, typography, and visual elements aligned with the company's branding while effectively communicating key data and sustainability initiatives.

CHAPTER NUMBERING SYSTEM

To maintain consistency and reinforce the structure of the document, each page features the chapter number positioned in the corner, as shown in this example. The placement of the number follows a precise layout system, using guide lines to ensure uniform distance and alignment throughout the entire report. This detail not only improves readability but also strengthens the visual identity of each section.

CHARACTERS

In this book, I included six mythical creatures from Ecuadorian folklore. The names of these fantastic beings—Guacamaya, Carbunco, El Cotomachaco, Chuzalongo, Zhiro, and Quishquinay—are presented as part of the content. Each one is explored through illustrations and descriptions that highlight their cultural significance and the legends surrounding them.

FANTASTIC CREATURES OF ECUADOR (SCIENTIFIC AGENDA)

As part of my college coursework, I developed my first children's book centered around Ecuadorian urban monsters. Aimed at young readers, I created all the illustrations from scratch, ensuring a vibrant and engaging visual experience. The book was printed and assembled, bringing the stories of these unique monsters to life while celebrating Ecuadorian culture.

SMALL DETAILS

At the bottom of each page, a specific body detail from each creature is illustrated, contributing to a journal-style format. This design choice gives the impression that the author is documenting and analyzing each fantastic being in detail, highlighting unique traits and physical characteristics to enrich the scientific and imaginative tone of the book.
